SAVE INVERLEITH PARK

LATEST NEWS

On Thursday 28th, scores of people turned up to demonstrate their support for the park. The campaign group presented the petition, with 8,679 signatures on it, to the Lord Provost. Tony Cook, Convenor of Friends, presented our case, to a motion, presented by Cllrs Whyte and Hinds, that the Park sell-off, and how it happened, should be investigated.
The fight isn't over yet. We need to keep up the pressure.

Aims of the Campaign:
- this outrageous proposal to sell off public parkland has to be reversed,
- the geographical boundaries of Inverleith Park should be protected by reversing the planning designation that has allowed this to happen.
- Inverleith Park is public parkland, public space for the long term health and well being benefit of Edinburgh's residents.

The Scottish Government Open Space Audit, (PAN 65), was intended to preserve public parkland for the health and wellbeing of the Scottish people.
Your council used this audit to change the planning designation of this part of the park, which allowed this sell off to be considered - completely the opposite of what the law was intended for.
