INVERLEITH PARK WINS GREEN FLAG AWARD!

Inverleith Park has earned the prestigious green flag award status.

The Green Flag award is like the Blue Flag award for clean beaches.

The Park has passed the test on a number of national criteria, such as environment, cleanliness, safety and accessibility.

So well done!

BUT now we have to make sure we keep it: the Park will be judged on an annual basis, so if standards slip, we will be on the case!

NEW EDINBURGH WILDLIFE SITE LAUNCHED

www.EdinburghWildlife.com

This site photo-document all of the wildlife in the city as a resource for nature lovers who live here, and people who are planning on visiting. So far I46 species of bird listed; 6 mammals; 6 invertebrates; and one sole amphibian – and these are just early days, those numbers will rise dramatically.

The site is looking for people to send photos (or even links to photos on Flickr that they have taken) to build up a true map of the wildlife in Edinburgh. There is also a ‘Sightings’ page for unusual or rare sightings; or even indicative things like the first swallows of summer. Yesterday’s sighting was (sadly) a North American Mink on the Water of Leith, and he obligingly posed to have his photo taken.
